The National Enquirer reported the affair between Edwards and Hunter last October but the story was denied by the then presidential candidate who refused to comment on the allegations. In a Nightline interview that will air Friday night, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that he did have an affair with Hunter, but he did not love her. Edwards said that he ended the affair too soon to be the father of Hunter's child, Frances Quinn, who was born on February 28. However, he did admit that he has yet to take a paternity test. Andrew Young, a former Edwards campaign aide, has said he was the father of the child. According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee (PAC) later paidHunter, an up-and-comingfilm director, $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience. Former President Bill Clinton will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado, taking the stage on the same night the vice presidential candidate is scheduled to deliver a speech. Clinton is set to speak on Aug. 27, and that could make things interesting if Hillary Clinton gets the nod as vice presidential candidate. As it stands, Hillary Clinton is scheduled to deliver a speech the night prior to her husband, the second night of the convention. Barack Obama is expected to officially gain the Democratic Party’s nomination for President. There is still speculation that Hillary Clinton could fight to get have her name included in nomination for a roll call vote. The New York senator has denied those rumors saying, “What we want to happen is for Senator Obama to be nominated by a unified convention of Democrats.” Click here for more Political News About YourFindit YourFindit Community is a business, music and social networking community. John Edwards Alleged Affair May Affect Role at Democratic National Convention

Posted on 8/8/2008 @ 10:28 AM in #Politics by Brendan1234567891011 0 comments

At one time John Edwards was the most prized endorsement among Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton but now that the former North Carolina senator has had his name tied to an alleged affair with video producer Rielle Hunter the Democratic Party has taken a collective step back and that could affect his role at the Democratic National Convention. The DNC is scheduled to take place in Denver in three weeks and Edwards had been a favorite to be a lead speaker at the nomination process but that role has become doubtful due to his reluctance to refute the affair allegations made by The National Enquirer. It is believed that Edwards may have damaged his reputation as a legitimate voice of the Democratic Party by failing to deny the affair as well as the supposed child he fathered with Hunter. Over the past several weeks Edwards has only said he would not respond to baseless accusations made by tabloid press. Not only has the allegation damaged Edwards potential role at the Democratic

Kilpatrick broke his bond agreement by making a business trip to Canada and not informing the court. Kilpatrick apologized to the court, saying that it won't happen again. However, the judge still ruled for him to spend the night in jail, saying that he would have given the same treatment to any "John Six-Pack" criminal defendant. Kilpatrick's attorney said they will appeal the ruling during a hearing in circuit court on Friday. Earlier Thursday, Kilpatrick waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will head to trial on perjury and other criminal chargesthat could land him in prison for up to 15 years. Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty were both charged this spring with lying in court to cover up an extra-marital affair between them, and with disciplining two former cops whose investigation would've exposed their affair.

Kilpatrick made an unauthorized trip to Canada last month, a direct violation of his bond. While he apologized to the judge for the trip it didn’t keep him from facing the penalty of jail time. District Court Judge Ronald Giles told Kilpatrick, “What matters to me though is how the court overall is perceived and how if it was not Kwame Kilpatrick sitting in that seat, if it was John Six-Pack sitting in that seat, what would I do? And that answer is simple.” Kilpatrick was then handed the one-day sentence. Kilpatrick, along with former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty had been charged with conspiracy, perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct related to a whistle-blowing case that was to reveal their text-messaging relationship had evolved into a romantic relationship. Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has launched a new television advertisement in which he criticizes his Republican opponent John McCain as being in the pocket of big oil. McCain’s campaign instantly attacked the ad and poked holes in its content, saying Obama had used selective information in crafting the message. In the advertisement the narrator can be heard declaring “big oil's filling John McCain's campaign with $2m in contributions.” The ad also pictures McCain with current President George Bush and warns, “After one president in the pocket of big oil, we can't afford another." According to McCain’s campaign the advertisement failed to mention Obama had already pocketed $400,000 from big oil contributors for his campaign and supported a 2005 bill that gave tax breaks for energy producers. Obama’s ad then promotes the use of a windfall profits tax on big oil that would provide enough funding to provide American families with a $1,000 tax rebate. Click here for more
